What is MAP?

MAP was established in 1992 by the Social Strategy Unit of the then Grampian Regional Council.

MAP is a partnership of statutory, voluntary and community organisations. It has no core funding, it responds to identified needs, seeks funding and address the issue.

Who are MAP?

Council Officers from Community Learning and Social Work, Area Manager, NHS, Community Councillors, CVS (Council for  Voluntary Service Aberdeenshire, Central and South) Mearns Youth Forum, MCHLN Representative, Villages in Control, Edzell Woods Representative, Local Councillors and indivduals who live and work in the area.


MAP has carried out a wide variety of projects in the Mearns area including:

•  Establishing Laurencekirk Out of School Club
•  Establishing Mearns Healthy Living Network
•  Setting up and running the community minibus
•  Hosting Community Conferences
•  Carrying out a "Community Planning Project" which looked
•  Facilitating a review of "Villages in Control"
